How To Unlock iOS 5.1 iPhone 4 With Gevey SIM (Untouched Baseband)

How To Unlock iOS 5.1 iPhone 4 With Gevey SIM (Untouched Baseband):
There is some good news for those which are using GEVEY SIM’s in order to unlock their iPhone 4 devices. It looks like these SIM’s are working on iOS 5.1, too, and, of course, they are keeping the baseband untouched.
We have been notified by one of our readers that managed to unlock an iPhone 4 running on iOS 5.1, using a GEVEY SIM. The unlocking process has been done by using the Redsn0w 0.9.10b6 utility and the baseband has remained untouched.
This article will show you how to successfully unlock your iPhone 4 running on iOS 5.1 with a GEVEY SIM.

First of all, in order to make sure that the GEVEY SIM will work on iOS 5.1, you need to upgrade to the last version of of custom firmware which has been created with RedSn0w 0.9.10b6 (for Windows or Mac OS X). Of course, your baseband will remain untouched (02.10.04 / 03.10.01 / 04.10.01). Therefore the GEVEY SIM should be able to unlock it. If it will not manage to do that, then the iOS 5.1 will remain locked.
After you have successfully installed iOS 5.1, you have to carefully follow the below mentioned steps in order to manage to activate the GEVEY SIM. This is necessary due to the fact there is a small (but important) difference when compared with the usual activation process that you have been doing until now, on iOS 4.
How To Unlock iOS 5.1 iPhone 4 With Gevey SIM (Untouched Baseband)
The most simple way to unlock iOS 5.1 iPhone 4 with Gevey SIM, while keeping the baseband untouched, and without restarting your device too many times, is the following:
Step 1: Power off your iPhone, pull out the GEVEY SIM and restart it using iBooty or Redsn0w 9depending on your situation);
Step 2: Now you have to insert the GEVEY SIM back in your iPhone and wait until the ‘Accept’ message is being displayed. If this doesn’t show up, then de-activate ‘Airplane Mode’ until it will appear.
Step 3: In this phase the small difference that I have been writing above will appear. You won’t be able to see the signal line anymore (as it happened in iOS 4). The following message will be displayed instead: ‘No Service’. In this moment you can call 112 and continue the ususal process.
Step 4: Activate and then de-activate immediately the ’Airplane Mode’. Wait for the two error messages to be displayed. Again, you have to activate and de-activate the ‘Airplane Mode’. Your iPhone should now get some network signal and you will be able to use it on the desired network.
Of course, because this tutorial has not been tested by us, we do not asume any responsability for the results of this process.
